Wont burn DvD's??

    I purchased a Compaq HP brother 320 GB around a year and a half ago, and about 2 months ago it stopped burning DVD's :( i tried different softwares, different DVD's etc but i dno how to fix it... My cousin told me to Regedit something but i am not too sure about that and i dont want to try something i dont no incase i ruin it altogether, can anybody please help me?

    Btw the drive is called "HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B"

    You may just need a firmware update - here's one for the hp - 1.10.

    What software and brands of dvd's have you tried? Burn speed using?

    i tried updating firmware already :( ITs version 1.80: my burn speeds are sooo slow i try all of them and it takes me an Hour to burn 1 DVD :(

    Ok check your transfer mode - all should be set to DMA. Sounds like yours may be set to PIO.
