    Hello,
I am using a Memorex 16X external model 3202-3286 on a IBM laptop A20P running 2K. I can shrink and DVD Decrypter. I use a write speed of 4X. Decrypter will not write to Ridata -R 16X media giving an error message I/O error : Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format. How to correct this, Please?
Next problem is if I use Memorex +R 4X media, the write speed is only 0.5X. This takes 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 hours to complete. How can I speed this up?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello.

First make sure your burner is in DMA transfer mode.

Next make sure your burner's firmware is up to date:

If it's an older drive it may be a Lite-on 1633 underneath.

Memorex media is almost always very poor in quality. Good media is made by Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Made in Japan labeled Sony and Fuji.

    Edit: text added below.

Does the laptop have USB2 ports or USB1 ports? A quick search did not ptovide an answer. You need USB2 ports.
