I just bought a Sony camcorder with AVCHD output and want to edit the files using an older PC with XP-SP3. I have Corel's Ulead 11 that I have been using successfully with SD video and want to edit the AVCHD files using the software's proxy file converter.

In theory, the AVCHD files are converted into lower quality proxy files where you can do all your fancy effects and then they're reconverted back to AVCHD with the effects intact. Sounds too good to be true.

Has anyone ever done this before with Ulead that could give me some tips?

    Thanks!

You would be far better off posting this in the Ulead forums, if they have forums.

They do, but they are useless.
