Write Error, take 2

    We're getting close...I can feel it...

    I've tried the following based on the responses to my previous post, (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/446313):

    1.) updated firmware
    2.) re-installed driver to correctly set DMA mode.

    Something is definately better now because I can now play DVDs using VLC which was not previously possible.

    However, I'm still receiving a write error when trying to write to the DVD. My next step will be trying new media, but does anyone see anything in the logfile which would suggest anything else.

    Hi rtbrown

    1st edit out your serial # - at the top of the log begins w/ 1A.

    The hard drive is still in pio mode. So follow the guide again. Looks like you may have just done the 1 drive.

    That and try different media. For this drive look for 8x or lower if you can find it like verbatim or made in japan sony, fuji or maxell.
