Im flashing a liteon 74850c. It is a replacement from my old liteon that is fried. I have the OFW from that drive. So I dont do a dump on the replacement. I choose the old dummy.bin file for source firmware, and lt+1.9.bin for target firmware. I spoofed the DVDkey as well so its the same. Then click Liteon Erase. When it tells me to cycle the power, I turn the xbox off and on. I use the xbox for power. When I write the firmware after the drive is return 0x72 status it goes well until the verification where it fails. Anyone have any ideas? It's really pissing me off

What do the flash properties say after the power cycle? Are you using a via chipset?

Even if the write verification fails you can still hook it up to the xbox and see if it works by running a copy of backup.Hopefully , it might work . GoodLuck !

When I turn off the xbox and press it back on again after 1 second. The xbox doesnt turn on for some reason. So i usually get drive intro failed. So then I click the INTRO button and it asks to resend the erase command. The xbox is still off at the moment so when it sends the command and now I turn the xbox on I usually get status 0x72 and good flash properties. then i write and get veification error. I wonder is the error because I didnt dump the OFW, I had OFW saved so it doesnt say Ive got a verified DVD key?

If you don't have the OFW and you sent an erase, you have brick.

For one thing, you're not getting a good power cycle. You can't (at least I don't think you can) get a good power cycle from the xbox power button. It won't power off and on quick enough. You have to unplug and plug the power connector of the Lite-On drive within 1 second.

I always use a connectivity kit and have never used the 360 to power the drive, so i can't say for sure, but I don't think that the console's power cycle is quick enough to do it. I guess that's why the tutorials all say to unplug and replug the drive's power cable. Give it a try.

You actually can on the 360 but it's a pain. You pull the power manually. It's tricky but it can be done. You need to invest the $20 in an xtractor since you'll need to do updates in the future. Much easier.
