    Hi,

I have got an xbox with a thomson dvd drive, I did a softmod and now XBMC is running.
The problem is, my xbox can't read MY burnt DVD+Rs (photos, music and games)(xbox sais: xboxdrive is empty).
But can read dvd+r (same brands) burnt at a friends pc.
My friend has a medion laptop, and I'm using a Aopen DUW1608/ARR burner in combination with Nero and Recordnow Max.
Brands of tested dvd+r are nanya, traxdata and philips
Does somebody knows how I can use my own burner to burn usable disks?

    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, for games I burnt an image of an iso file and that disc wasn't recognised. But a own burnt music dvddisk wasn't recognised by the xbox aswell. A friends burnt music dvddisk is usable.
Could my dvd-writer not be suitable to burn dvd+r readable for my xbox, or do I have to try DVD-r in combination with my writer.

Hopefully my dvd-writer is suitable, I bought it today.

The problem is probably the version of Xbox you have. There are multiple versions of xbox (though somehow many people have no idea). The earlier versions can read copied cds and dvds without having to buy mods. But the later versions dont let you do as much.

different types of dvd's use different types of dyes. Certain dvd drives like and dislike certain dyes. So the best solution is to find a brand that your dvd drive likes and try to stay with it. I know for +r's I haven't had any problems with maxell/memorex/HP/fuji/general/pine/sony. So maybe try one of these brands to start. If none of these work for you then it's probably the method that you're burning your disks. Chances are it isn't the make of your burner that would screw things up.

I usually rip the game with dvd2xbox on the xbox (if I have room on my hard drive) OR use quix (since I use avalaunch or unleashed) and transfer the game from the xbox dvd drive to the pc and convert it to a Xiso in one step.

To burn I would recomend either dvd decrypter or alcohol 120%,both are solid and almost foolproof.

If you still have problems, then i would say look on the forums at xbox-scene.com and see what they have to offer for advice.

I bought sony DVD-RWs and the xbox recognized them. GREAT.

But, I burnt an ISO-file game with DVD-decrypter but the XBOX (XBMC)doens't start the game, but restart XBMC.

When I go to files in xbmc and select the dvd drive [D] and select default.xbe, XBMC restart aswel.

The game does work, I already tested it from the HD by ftp.

Does somebody know what the problem is?

    Thanks a lot

    Thanks for your replay,

I patched the default.xbe with QWIX (tools) but unfortunately it doesn't make sense.
