Just flip the xbox over and there should be a sticker..

Look for a sticker that has ur serial and it should also have a Manufactured date or something like that..

Most the series 2 xbox's came out within the last couple months here not sure about the states though.

There is something about taking the top off your xbox I think which might help you find out the version.

If you have one of the older versions you are in luck. They are easier to mod, and you can buy a solderless modchip for them. Some people have had trouble modding the versions 1.6 and 1.6b.

not to be rude, but you guys are idiots. older versions, for the most part, are better. the main reason beaing that modchips are much, much earier to install, and linux as well.

the only thing worrysome about having and older version is that the laser will eventually die. this is not because it is an old version, it is simly because it is old, and all lasers die eventually.

reading this page, i have realized that someone else has made this exact same comment while i was typing. lol. as you can see, im not the only one who knows what im talking about here.

i just got back from putting a chip in a 1.3. after doing several 1.6's before this, it was a welcome break (6 less wires or so).

anyhow. have a nice day everyone.

[edit] this might be handy for those willing to void your warranty (its the only real way to find your version, although if you arent putting a chip in, it dosent matter what version you have anyways, they all function exactly the same)

    I wouldn't want a 1.6
Harder to install a mod chip on and a greater possibilty of screwing something up.
