Hello everyone.. recently i've been trying to burn an xvid video with 1 hour and 34 mins of video on it to a dvd to play on my tv.

    File : 700 MB (700 MB), duration: 1:34:58, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 51 %
    Video : 623 MB, 917 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 640*272 (2.21:1), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
    Audio : 76 MB, 113 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

Theres the info for the video. Here's my system specs
Windows XP, AMD 2600+ with 1 gig DDR333 ram with an MSI 8xDVD±RW drive. 160gb HD.

I've downloaded a slew of programs and the ones that came with my MSI-DVD+-RW drive.

    Cyberlink Powerdirector
    Cyberlink PowerProducer 2 gold
    Nero OEM 6.3.1.20
    NeroVision Express 2 SE 2.1.2.18
    TMPGEnc
    D.I.K.O

and a few more. Now.. When I start up TMPGEnc to turn the AVI into DVD compliant MPEG-2 It coems out to an outrageous size of 10gbs. I followed the newbie guide to burning Xvids to Dvds and It doesn't explain any of this.. lemme explain.

I started up TMPGEnc.. Did the Project wizard. Selected DVD-PAL for Format then selected MP2 audio. Then selected the video and didn't change any of the auto selected features. next I didn't click any of the 3 boxes but i clicked "Other Settings" Changed it to 2-pass VBR and Highest Quality Motion Search Precision. Now this is where I get stuck..

The bitrate won't go down past 2000. My movies still at 5.5gb. I even did expert settings and brang it down to 1200 bitrate and it barely fits. Should i waste the 20 hours of compile time to burn another coaster? Am I missing something?

2nd... I used Powerproducer 2 gold to convert the movie into a a bunch of .vob files.. my VIDEO_TS folder is VTS_01_0.vob,VTS_01_1.vob,VTS_01_2.vob yada yada yada. Then i used nero to burn those vob files to a dvd but the dvd doesn't play in any DVD player i've tried.

    Can anyone help me out?

Hi Tipsy.Get a proggy called cucusoft avi to dvd converter. When yo have installed the program start it up.When the opening screen appears select avi to dvd then select add files.Open the folder with the xvid file is double click on it and it will appear in the two screens in the cucusoft programme.Do not change any of the settings except the one at the lower right hand corner.Select either ntsc or dvd. Then press convert.Depending on the size of the file this can take upto and over ten hours to convert. When it`s done the file will be saved in the original file where your xvid file was.
Now select tmpgenc dvd author(another proggy you will need).Select "create new project"add your converted file, this will then open up another page where you can add chapters.when done select ok.Another screen will open telling you where the output folder is located.select "begin output" then sit back and chill. When that has finished burn with nero.
As for the calibration error this could be down to crap media or a bit of dust in your burner. The best media i have found is the one with the Ritek dye on them.Very deep purple.
    Hope this helps

I'll try it out but won't the file still be way to big to fit on the disk?
