yahoo email and copy/paste to word

I used to be able to copy information from an email sent to me in my yahoo account and paste it to a word doc to save edit etc.
Now when I try to do this it shuts down word and if I'm lucky I'll get what I was working on "recoverd".
Anybody know what is going on? And better yet what I can do to fix it?

 

have you tryed to copy and paste to wordpad or note pad

 

I haven't tried pasting to either of those.

 

I was able to paste in word perfect without issue. I just don't know why I can't paste into word.
