I just got a rarely seen RCA HDV5000 off of ebay marked as "non-working/as-is" since it was locking up on the seller when he tested it with 2 HD DVD discs (Backdraft and V for Vendetta). After asking a few questions like which movies was he testing it with thinking it might have been disc rot and if the exhaust fan working or not I decided to pick it up for just under $80. That's alot for a paperweight but it's not if it works. I was pretty confident that I could diagnose the issue and...

Hi guys, im looking for a full HD 1080p media player that i can connect to my tv via HDMI that will play all/most video files up to maybe 20 gigs in size. Preferably one that will play files from a 2TB hard drive. I have read a lot of reviews about different media players that meet these specifications but they seem to have a very short lifespan and only last a few months before they stop working. Can you please offer any recommendations on any products that would be suitable for me?

As the title explains, I want to buy a cheap projector and my wife showed me one for $47, but the Lumens was a measly 60 and the rez was like 480/330 (barely VCR quality) I found some $80 ones with 1200 Lumens and Hi Def 1920/1080 rez which is good, supposedly it can handle a 120” screen.
What do I need for the kids to watch movies in the back yard? I intend to buy a cheap portable screen also..so what do I need in Lumens to pull this off? Thanks so much

Hi, I hope someone can give me some advice.

I'm pretty sure I posted this in the wrong subforum first. I hope it's okay that I repost it here.

I moved to a two-story house, and the router and TV are downstairs while my desktop PC is upstairs. I mainly play videos on my computer, but I want to watch them on the TV. I used to have an HDMI cable (for video and audio), and that worked great. But now I would need to get a 15 meter one. I was hoping to avoid that, since the PC (which has no...

Hi All,

I'm having an issue attempting to back-up a rare item and am hoping someone can help.

About 3 months ago i bought a very expensive piece of vintage erotica from a consignment shop. The material is not anything illicit, but it is extremely rare - it had only one commercial release, on VHS, in 1980, and sells on Ebay for between $200-$500.

Naturally I want to avoid repeatedly watching the tape and wearing it out. I'd ideally like to back up to DVD-R...
