play it from an ext. hard drive. dvds always screw up. are they hd-dvds?

what format does the super usb play off your HDD? will it play mpeg-2? if you put them on your hdd from the pc? ive tried finding this out before...
i always thought everybody just splitted from the same box, thought that was just the way to it. the boxes are capable of sending enough signal...
ive got a coax splitter on my wall connection, one to my starview, one to my modem. i cant think what it is!!
does anybosy else have a problem with their internet connection when the starview is turned on?? my internet doesnt work when mines turned on but...
