I have got v4.00 on my original genuine Starview and my new "The Box", as they are identical anyway and they both work very well, no more freezing...
I guess the reason is that 2.57 works ok so they have just altered that.

Is it now working ok? If it is dont worry about it might have been some corruption of the data stream as it was being flashed.
The Box has the same processor as the Starview! Do not take this as otherwise! It is just a Starview with a new front on it, nothing more....
You might be right on the overheating part, just had a look and its pretty well far too hot too touch, gonna see if I can fit a fan on it as soon...
Only problem I have with all these versions coming out is I have no idea where they are from, with all the problems with dodgy boxs etc and that...

Are you sure the remote is working? Unplug it and leave it for a while & see it that helps? Otherwise reflash it.
You can buy USB to serial com adapters. In fact Maplin do one and its part number ZP43W. Hope this helps
