Please move this as needed. I picked up a 4600. It had a major issue with the SYSTEM 32 so I decided to reload the OS, XP PRO in this case using my DELL cd. There were 3 screens referencing the net connection. I chose to skip those screens as suggested by my printed directions. In the end there was NO net connection. My tech friend said the drivers were missing. The set up screen indicated that the hardware.software. drivers were detected and installed. Should I have NOT skipped those 3 screens? Was this a fluke? In subsequent attempts these 3 screens did not reappear so I had no chance to try to make a correction. The MS version was also on the same CD. The COA was rejected so I do not know if those same 3 screens are included or if I could make those corrections on that screen. I will presume that the CD works that way for in the past I HAVE skipped those screens but in the end DID have a net connection. That was with 3 8100s. I tried using my 81 hdd with the 46. It did not work. I do not know because it is not compatible, or because there was an issue with the 4600. Does the DELL resource CD include all the drivers commonly used currently as well as the older ones? Can I use the CD to install the drivers that the OS CD does not install? How do I get one? Contacting DELL is next to impossible. Is there an online source? Any help welcome. My friend took care of it. Until I talk to him I do not know what the issue is. A resource CD would be good to have for this reason. Can I also use it with non DELLS?

Thanks for the info. I figured out how to do it. I swapped hhds temporarily, downloaded the drivers from DELL, then reswapped hdds. I am sure I will come across a newer version of my cd.
I had my tech friend take care of it. The tower worked for awhile and then I lost the connection again. Apparently the OS CD did something unexpected. Also the 4600 is newer that my CD. The drivers do not live on the CD. Live and learn the hard way. Is there a newer version of the DELL RESOURCE CD on line? The CD i have will load the OS. But I need a newer CD to load the drivers from. XP PRO.
