This is a retype of a message a member of another forum sent me in response to my question. I do not know of anyway else to do it nor do I know the AD email address. Here goes.

To remove wmp any version, do this---

    START/RUN
    REGEDIT in command box
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE PLUS sign to left
    PLUS SIGN FOR SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENT VERSION/UNINSTALL
LEFT CLICK OPENS FOLDER/UNINSTALL MEDIA PLAYER 10 or MEDIA PLAYER(no number)
SELECT UNINSTALL STRING NOT DISPLAY NAME
    DOUBLE LEFT CLICK UNINSTALL
RIGHT CLICK HIGHLIGHTED ENTRY THEN COPY FROM THE MENU
    CLOSE WINDOW
    REOPEN RUN BOX
RIGHT CLICK INSIDE DISPLAYED STRING(if any) PASTE PREVIOUSLY SELECTED STRING/OK MEDIA PLAYER WILL BE REMOVED FROM SYSTEM
INSTALL MS PLAYER OF YOUR CHOICE ALONG WITH THE APPROPRIATE A/V CODEC WHICH IS COLE2K
VERSION 7.8 or 7.9. VERSION 8 DOES NOT WORK. THAT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKS FOR P9 OR 10. NO INFO FOR 11/12

Hope this helps. This is what you do when the player is NOT in the add/remove list. which is typical.
