They are a completely different format. Strongly doubt that current ROMs or Burners useing the - or + format will read them or playback.

Best possible option would be an el cheapo Chinese DVD player.

I think you mean a EVD player as opposed to a DVD player. Altough it does use the same UDF file system that DVD uses. It uses the VP5 and VP6 codecs from on2 technologies and they have a decoder available on the following link http://www.on2.com/downloads/vp6-decoder/

Here is some more information for you.

The File structure for example is like this

    Main directory: EVD_1
    In this is : EVD.BAK, EVD.HDR, SEG_1.DAT, SEG_2.DAT, SEG_3.DAT.

Now I can make an exact copy using Blindwrite which will play on a standalone EVD Player. I'm currently in Singapore and they ues EVD players on Plasma and LCD screens to impress the public, although you can not buy them in singapore yet.

I have downloaded the On2 Truecast player and the VP6 decoder but can still not play on my PC.

Ok thats all for now. Thanks Mark

I don't think this is possible to play on XP. I have found out Shinco will release two EVD players soon here in Singapore, cost about $300Sing. I plan to get one of these.

    Cheers Mark

DVD uses MPEG2, but you need more than just an MPEG2 decoder for playback. Same would go for EVD. You would think that they would have released a software player though?
