    hi:

Is it possible to have a cablecard installed in a new flat panel LCD TV and still get the sound to come thru your theater system? My friend already has the tv and cablecard installed. The salesman told him to just get an optical or coaxial cable and run it from the AV receiver to the TV.

My thinking is how can the av receiver "know" what the signal source is if nothing is going to it. I don't think this is possible unless you get a STB. Is that correct? Thanks...REGARDS

unless thats a high end card, then i would say yes, but you would still be losing the benefit ot TRUE surround sound. you really just need a receiver to decode the format and be done with it...
