i reinstalled my windos yesterday because a certian virus wouldnt just DIE. during the installation there was an error, it said something like...."dirver.cab could not be found on your reinstallation cd, please clean disk and try again." i tried it a few times and then i just clicked "IGNORE" the rest of the installation finished and i think my windows runs fine. is the "DRIVER.CAB" file important? i tried to install it manually but it get an error. it says......"cannot copy DRIVERata error (cyclic redundancy check)."....... plz help. thanks in advanced.
The driver.cab file is important in windows XP because it has all the generic drivers for you to use when installing new Hardware etc... If things are working well so far and you want to add the file u can try to add it buy installing it via the net. Do a google search and find the driver and install it that way. you wont get the cycle problem then. That just comes when the disc is dirty or scratched.
are all driver.cab files supposed to be the same? the one i need is 60.1 MB and i got on from a friend, but his is 72.3 MB will it work the same? also, is there any way for me to clean the disk or be able to extract the file from it?
Try to go to a shop and tell them u need something to clean a CD a soulotion of some sort and see what they give u. The other way is to look on the Microsoft website for the cab file or do a google search.
