when i meant don't use any technicle terms i really meant it. Im a complete noob when it comes to hardware. So can u plz describe the difference and i can tell u. thx
i think you better take your computer & hd to your local computer store so they can install it for you.
well im gonna be usin this hdd for installin ps2 games through the computer. So i wanna learn how to do it rather than go to a hardware store every time.
read these links. http://www.dansdata.com/buildpc.htm http://www.motherboards.org/articlesd/how-to-guides/924_1.html
here is the problem i have. http://www.dansdata.com/images/buildpc/320/hdconnect.JPG the wire in that picture, whenever i connect it to the hdd and turn on my comp i get this message saying "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". I have my winXP cd in the cd drive so i shouldn't have this problem but i get the message regardless. It will load the cd if that plug isn't in my hdd, but then it won't read the hdd. Can u identify my problem?
how many hd's are you going to have & what drives as in hd's & rom drives are on what cable, primary & secondary?
im gonna install 1 hdd for now and have the other one disconnected. I put that little jumper thing on my hdd to be master w/ slave present. I also have a cd/dvd drive and a floppy drive. On the Bios i made my HDD primary but i didn't know there was a specific cable for the primary and another one for secondary.
did you get a manual for your motherboard or computer because if did, check to see if that info is there
you cannot just put new hdd without an os(windows) in it. you have to put the old hdd as master because the os is in there. make the new hdd as slave.
i already deleted to OS from my other HDD anyways i got it to work by makin it a slave be4 this but thx anyways. Now i want to put some ps2 games on my old HDD but i can't find that find that little thing to show if it's a master or a slave. Is there anyway i can make the computer recognize it manually without it?
Correction from last post. i already deleted the OS from my old HDD. Anyways i got the new one to work by makin it a slave and my cd/dvd drive is the master. Now i want to put some ps2 games on my old HDD but i can't find that find that little thing to show if it's a master or a slave. Is there anyway i can make the computer recognize it manually without it?
no, i couldn't find it. Anyways my old HDD is sdata. So does any1 know how to make that show up as slave?
check in your bios. is old hd just for ps2 game storage or do you intend to install it into your ps2?
i tend to install it into my ps2. I have Winhiip on my new HDD and will use it once i get my comp to recognize my old HDD as a slave, but i can't do that without the jumper. I checked my bios and it doesn't see my old HDD. Is there a way i can do it without the jumper thing.
