i was wondering which you would say would be a better card including overclocking from stock i want one of these for crysis and other new games coming out with dx10
From the benchmarks I have been looking at, the 8800GT is definately the sweet spot, thats where I am putting my $$$. Its only being outperformaed by the 8800GTX /Ultra at high resolutions.
my cousin just put the 8800gt in replaceing the 7950gt ko, his 3dmark score went from: 6100, to 12000......with 25Mhz OC to the video card on all its settings. by the 8800GT!!!
While unfortunately none of the modern cards will be able to play Crysis with very high setting and antialiasing enabled, I wouldn't say that the 8800GT is way better than the 8800GTS. A factory overclocked 8800GT is your best bet as of now. ATI will also be releasing a batch of new midrange cards sometime in mid-November and who knows, they might surprise. So you can either buy now or wait and maybe get something better for the same price. The new cards from ATI will also have DX 10.1
I'm also looking to buy at the end of December. Hopefully nVidia/ATI will release their new high end models between now and then so I can replace my aging 1950XTX.
Well nvidia/ati are said to be releasing a couple new cards this month, but I think the "bigger" more powerful cards are going to be released in Q1 2008. The new GTS from nvidia is suppostd to be released this month, and I believe 2 new ATi cards are going to be released too. I dont believe any will be better than the GT though.
well wouldn't that depend on the resolution, if your gaming at 1280x1024 with a GT, or even a GTS/XT/Pro, it sould be able to run on high/v.high
so i think i will go with the 8800 gt since nothing is supposed to be better but how much could i oc it with stock cooling if at all
wow i was just looking at these new ati cards and i cant get any good info on it some say it is worse than 8800gt and the specs make it look way better
ya i know but i just like to know what to get now i am thinking about it way to much. i think it is 15th tho
