Hi all, i've been looking for a new computer and was wondering if anybody has bought/used the HP Blackbird and if so what you thought of it? I'm interested in the LC version and would appreciate any tips/thoughts you have. Here's a link: http://h20435.www2.hp.com/ Thanks
here is a review for the blackbird http://www.maximumpc.com/article/hp_blackbird_002 it is very expensive. for the half the price of the lc version you could build a computer yourself with better specs.
My god you could build something better for 1500. Water cooling is useless anyway. Just get yourself a Thermalright Ultra CPU cooler.
Agreed. Water cooling is for people that have way too much money on their hands. Seriously unless your running an uberbeast you dont need your PC to be that cold.
Actually anandtech ran some tests and it seems air coolers like the Ultra 120 cool BETTER than water cooling. So it's more expensive and less effective.
Not to mention its alot safer. If one of your pipes leak in your water cooling system, you can kiss your system goodbye.
I'm not one to advocate watercooling, but the last statement's not true. Although you don't want leaks, if you use proper non-conductive anti-algae fluid a leak won't harm your components unless it rusts them (so don't let a leak go unnoticed!) The Blackbird is way overpriced.
Ah ok..I didnt know they had liquids like that. Just was going by what I was told lol. Learn something new everyday on this board =]
Ahh ok..thats one of the reasons why I steered clear of a watercooling system because I was afraid that it would leak and I would walk in my room and discover my PC drowning and dying lol..but still..a bit too much money to spend when I can get better cooling systems. Sure it looks good..
My PC is air-cooled. It will run quieter than any watercooling system (pumps are never quiet), it's cooling setup cost around £100 (watercooling systems that are any good are £150 plus) and at full load on a heavily overclocked CPU, my CPU's temps never reach 45C.
Thanks for the link, i hadn't read that review yet--good info on that site I know it's really expensive but when i was screwing around on there with the configuration i could get everything i want plus the 22" monitor for about $4700 (incl.ship)which i don't think is that bad--wait, wait--i've been looking at the stuff seperately but on average for everything NOT including the mouse, keyboard, monitor it comes to over $4000 anyway? Bloody hell, where do you guys shop? If you want me to i can post the specs of what i have picked out and see what you think... PS> thanks for the responses guys
