Well foaks straight away dont get me rong its a lovely mobo but geez when i try and install vista on to it just wont it install? i have probably serched all of google for awnsers lol but hardly nothing.

I have Updated my bois to see if that would do anything,, i created it on one full partion instead of having two but that didnt work? i even tryed upgrading it from windows xp its self but no again it didnt work. what happens is that when installing vista it begins to and when it gets around the 60% mark it just freezes and does nothing, this is at the compleating installation part. Now it is probably due to the fact i have copys of vista instead of the real thing, should i go and buy one and see if this is the case? if not what next? well i hope some one out there with the same mobo knows what im talking about lol
    many thanks paul

Yeah, the P5N is full of problems. Almost everyone that I know on the forums that have one have sent theirs back and gone with the Striker Formula or the 780i board from EVGA.

I dont know if I can really help out... What happens when you try to install Vista, what errors do you see?

You know you should never really pirate a OS - the most important piece of software your computer has... I would go buy a real copy - although I am not 100% sure it will fix the problem.

Do you have any other computers that you can try installing Vista on to see if you get the same results?

You can't install Vista on the P5N-E SLI, it's not compatible. I tried!
You really ought to replace the board, the P5N-E SLI is a REALLY crappy board. I went with a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R.

No, I tried, but it hanfs on the "installing devices" section - turns out something on the board isn't compatible with vista, though nobody can tell me what. My P5N-E board failed prematurely, but it had performed so poorly up to that point, rather than getting it replaced, I just bought a better board instead.

Well the Striker II Formula is fantastic! Although it runs on a slightly older chipset (780i), it still is a great board.

What is your budget? You could get one of the 780i/790i boards from EVGA - they're great too.

Gigabyte boards a pretty reliable as well - you can ask sam that, he has one.

    I'd edit that to say:
"Don't buy this board" - it's not good for XP either.

randomly not POSTing, and then the keyboard/mouse input was completely messed up (big delays in input) and then it stopped POSTing altogether for a day. When it did start working again, I'd had enough.

oh dear ive done a stupid thing lol.. i bought another asus board and guess what this one was WORSE. It was the P5N-T DELUXE hmm more like hell then deluxe i tell ya!!

Well got it instaled everyfing as usal cpu, ram etc installed vista and i was really enjoying it untill 3 4 mins it started to freeze and it kept on doing it. So i went searching on some other forums and it turned out that bored was just as bad, very unstable and i can see why and what a waste of money!!! Ive hurd very good reports about asus but im begining to wonder, there website is not very good either. Now im on a tight budget becuase ive wasted my money on these useless boards.

I have heard some good reports about the EVGA 780i, asus users said that they swaped there boards for this one and it ran like a charm well what do you people think? I like the striker 2 but its 2 expenisve for me and well its asus lol and there not in my good books at the moment lol
