I know this has probobly been beaten sensless with multiple sticks but i have a athlon 2800xp plus with a asrock k7s41gx mobo i have successfull been able to overclock the processor to a 2.2 ghz but the temps get to 67*c with a aftermarket cpu fan and a case fan plus a 120mm psu fan blowing on the pcu. my question is? is it safe to run at that temp? the temp reading is after about an hour of warcraft3 online play with a 10mbps connection any input would be apreatiated
plus here's a useful thread on this excellent CPU - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/101705 Hey there ddp.
regular temp seems to stay at 51*C thats just surfing the net i have read that 65* is to high but i also have read that asrock's ucop and hybrid booster will shut down the system if it becomes to hot or unstable. don't know how much i true of the second statment
I just happen to still have to hand my ancient notes back from when my 2800 was my main PC.. (bear in mind that my Athlon is in a teeny tiny case so ventilation is a tad tricky for mine) - http://www.nodevice.ru/images/catalog/EZ-Buddie_CaseD3.jpg Before i changed the main case fan - Ambient (of the case, not the room) - 36C CPU idle - 68C Seti@home running ie CPU at full pelt - 75C After updating the main case fan to a YS Tech fan - Ambient (of the case, not the room) - 27C CPU idle - 59C Seti@home running - 62C Not sure i ever improved on those temperatures. From memory the max temperature for this CPU is 85C anyways... ..p.s. mine isn't overclocked by the way.. i've just checked the 2800 machine via the BIOS and i hadn't improved on those temperatures, in fact the CPU temp is now hitting 63C @idle.
