I am using Aegisub to create English subtitles on a Japanese song. I intended to use VirtualDub to hardsub them, but VirtualDub is unable to open Advanced Substation Alpha (ASS) files - apparently it can only read Sub Station Alpha v2.x/4.x (SSA) scripts. Aegisub counts ASS and SSA as the same type when I try to export (I assume ASS is merely a newer version of SSA.) Is there any way to covert ASS to SSA? Or is there another program you can recommend that will hardsub using ASS?
