Sega investigating into hack attack on their servers

Sega has noted they are investigating into the hack on their servers on Friday whilst taking all the appropriate steps to secure data.
Consumer data was stolen, says the gaming company, but passwords were encrypted and financial data was not compromised.

Says Sega (via IBT):

Over the last 24 hours we have identified that unauthorized entry was gained to our Sega Pass database. We immediately took the appropriate action to protect our consumers' data and isolate the location of the breach. We have launched an investigation into the extent of the breach of our public systems.

LulzSec did not take credit for the attack, and even asked the company for details so they could attack the group that did it.

For some reason I feel as though this is an extremely common thing. Just since PSN was hacked, companies are now reporting it.

So I guess it's Hackerdawn now.

You know, these cyber attacks are becoming more annoying than a case of rectal itch. I'm talking the kind of painful itch that's easier to scratch with a wire brush from inside the roof of your mouth.

If ever there were a time that a 'Nuke' style reverse virus could be reloaded back onto a criminal's computer that would backfire into his keyboard and blow his dick off... well, guy that invents 'that' deterrent program should get a Nobel Peace Prize of some sort. Put it under the heading of humanitarian aid or civil recognition or something.

Just sayin...

Because puking out thousands of Sonic games just doesn't have the same effect anymore
