Beats sued over headphone noise-cancellation patents by Bose

Beats sued over headphone noise-cancellation patents by Bose Premium audio hardware maker Bose has sued Beats Electronics over alleged patent infringement related to noise cancelling headphones.
Bose has accused the company of willfully infringing on five of its patents. By claiming the infringement was willful, Bose says it lost profits and sales and will be seeking large damages.

The patents are related to "active noise reduction" technology, which Bose has been using in consumer products since the early 2000s.

In addition, Bose filed a complaint with the U.S. ITC, seeking an injunction on imports of Beat's noise-cancelling headphones into the country. "We are committed to protecting our investment, protecting our customers, and defending the patents we own," said Bose.

Beats was recently acquired by Apple for $3 billion, so the startup's attorney team has seen a significant upgrade.

Founded in 08 according to wiki,makes me wonder why sue now unless infringement was recent (assuming reverse engineering was involved)or whether now apple has it it's actually worth it..lol..ladies & gentleman battle royal is about to begin!

Probably seen Apple was trying to buy them so they're hopeful Apple will just settle with a big payout.

Would not at all be surprised if Beats ripped off Bose.

Please clarify exactly WHAT was "founded in 08 according to Wiki"

You make mention as if the article discusses SOMETHING that was "founded" leaving readers to wonder what you even looked up in Wiki to begin with.

I guess once your reply becomes 'coherent' after clarification, maybe your nonsense statement will make more applicable sense.

lol..gave the benefit of the doubt as much of a waste of time it was as i'm not sure who wouldn't know Bose & Apple have been round for donkey's.

ps:donkey's = slang for years..hehehe

Quite simply, Bose did NOT invent active noise cancellation. I'm getting damn tired of seeing companies try to claim IP over prior art, whether it's rectangles with rounded corners, icons, most 3D-printer patents, or whatever.

Edit --> Specifically, "donkey's" is short for "donkey's age" ^^' ...

It's specific tech that Bose invented that they claim is being infringed upon NOT the idea of noise-cancellation itself Bozobub.

Aussie here... my mum said "donkeys years" or "donkeys" and she was a teen in the Great Depression. So it's been around for at least that long.
