The Raspberry Pi 2 is here with double the RAM, better processor and same price The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the sequel to their popular micro PC, the Raspberry Pi.
The new, updated Raspberry Pi 2 has an improved processor and double the RAM but keeps the amazing price of $35.

"It's a major leap forward in terms of computing power for users," says Mike Powell, a technology development manager for Pi distributor Element14. "A whole wave of new applications are now possible."

The Pi 2 has a quad-core, ARMv7 processor with a clock speed of 900MHz and 1GB of RAM. The original "Model A" Raspberry Pi had a single core ARMv6 processor at 700MHz with 512MB RAM.

Since its inception, the Pi has been aimed at students that are looking to learn coding. With the added RAM and processing power, there will certainly be the ability to use more power-intensive programs now.

The R-Pi 2 will be able to run Windows 10 when available which will be free, I repeat FREE to Raspberry Pi users.

I don't think so ivymike. Windows 10 runs on Intel CPUs, not ARM. Windows RT ran on ARM processors, but has been discontinued and will not be upgraded to Win 10.

Important to include that this is Windows 10 for ARM, which for most intents and purposes is not Windows. It will run Metro apps, but no conventional Windows software.

it has already been confirmed on arstechnica, but probably will not run x86 apps

I checked the Raspberry Pi website and they say that they're working with Microsoft for a FREE R-Pi version of W10.

Even full-fledged x86 Windows 8 is 'free' to many manufacturers as long as they let Bing be the default search engine in IE.

The Windows 10 that will be coming with the Raspberry Pi is basically like Windows RT that came out with Windows 8. It will not run normal Windows software. By name it is Windows, but for many people, not being able to run Windows software kind of defeats the purpose of running Windows.

Thought Windows 10 is only free for upgrades for win 7 and 8 pcs. And if you put it on a new PC/Device that won't be free..
