Is Amazon Prime Instant Video turning into a cable alternative?

According to a new report, Amazon Prime Instant Video subscribers will soon be able to add TV and movie channels to their existing catalog of content, making the service into a cable rival.
The new features could go live before Christmas, say the sources, and each service available will be available from separate pages within Amazon Prime Video, so they can easily be distinguished.

It is unclear which services have partnered with Amazon but we will likely know a lot more in the near future.

I have been a prime member for over a year and have found instant video of absolutely no use whatsoever. TV and movie channels don't interest me either. I guess there are some who might enjoy it, but I am definitely not one of them.

I have been a prime member for years too. I hardly use the video service because most movies are really old and I can find them in Netflix. If they bring new and recent movies, then I may get into it but, otherwise I have no use for it. I keep my prime membership because of the shipping services I get since I purchase a lot from Amazon.

Same here. I make use of subscribe and save and order quite a bit of food and other things. They usually have the best prices for what I'm looking for.

I watch their videos whenever I do my exercise on my recumbent bike. I'm mostly into documentaries and they have a lot I like.
Plus, the free 2 day shipping is nice. I also like the book borrowing.
