Netflix launches FAST speed test app for iOS, Android

Earlier this year, Netflix launched Fast.com, a very simple site for testing your connection speed.
The streaming giant has now expanded their services to mobile users, launching FAST speed test apps for iOS and Android. Install the app and open the app to see your current Internet speed. There are no other options in the app except a refresh button if you want to run the test again.

FAST will only show you your download speed unlike rival Speedtest.net that shows both download and upload and Netflix says most users don't care about upload speed (and they are right).

Check out the apps here:

Will this be available to users in India ? I am not a subscriber to Netflix but would certainly give it a try if it is ad free. Ookla is so full of intrusive ads that it literally is painful to use.

What's the point of this effort? It's far too basic to be any real use and it's also inaccurate so serves zero purpose other than to cause headaches for ISP's when people complain because this thing low balled their speed. Mine was 20Mbps less than it actually is, as measured by speedtest.net and my actual download speeds as measured by downloading files.

This thing isnt accurate, my test was 20Mbps out which is a pretty big margin, some people dont even get 20Mbps.
