Hello All, My attempts to accomplish a backup of “Sling Blade” are failing. (This is the director’s cut, released 06/07/2005.) Everything seems to proceed nicely from the outset. With AnyDVD running, I use DVD Decrypter to move files to my hard drive. This concludes without error messages. DVD Shrink is next up and this is where things come to a grinding halt. Shrink doesn’t get through it’s typically brief analysis. An error message is displayed. It advises that one of the VOB’s contains invalid data. Thinking I had a “bad press”, I exchanged the DVD for a new one. The same error occurs. The same VOB is identified. I’ve successfully accomplished more than 50 backups. This is the only movie which has presented an invalid VOB. Any ideas?
That's weird that you can rip it fine, the only suggestion I have is try ripping it with dvdfar decrypter (free program) and see if that works. Once it's ripped can you open it up and play it on your pc? ad you get no errors while ripping?
I rip with no error messages. I have not tried to play the movie from my hard drive. In fact, I've never tried to play any backup from my hard drive.
This circumstance has been resolved and it came with a surprise. DVD Shrink reported the invalid VOB because the ripping didn’t happen correctly. For the first time in my experience, the “tried & true” combo of AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter failed. Success came to pass when I set that combo aside and used DVDFab Decrypter to do the ripping. Once done, DVD Shrink found everything to be in order. Who’d have “thunk it”? I certainly didn’t. Thanks for your response.
