I have an old xbox that wasn't working for sometime. My hard drive was shot and its been collecting dust. A friend of mine recently burnt up his motherboard installing a mod chip and decided to give me his hard drive . I took his mod chip installed it on my motherboard and am using his OEM hard drive. As most of you already know, and as I just recently found out, this aint gonna work. His harddrive was never unlocked. I have an xecuter 2.6 with Flashbios 3.03 on 1 bank and X2 4.0 somthing on the other. I have yet to install a dashboard, because I keep getting the oops screen with the 06 error. On the Flashbios bank I keep getting. "Unable to read HDD first sector. . . " Basically am I screwed or what? I've read where I could swap the eeprom. I really don't feel like doing all that soldering. Is my best option just to by a new Hard drive? Do I have any other options. I tried Slayers disc, but I'm assuming I have to have an unlocked HDD to install it first.
'Error 06': Unlock Error, The XBOX™ can not unlock the HDD. Most likely cause the HDD came out of another XBOX™ Unfortunaltly each and every HDD sold with the XBOX™ come tied to the Hip's with it's Logicboard. And you'd need to know the '20-bit Unlock Code' to actually unlock it. I take it the XBOX™ in question was never moded? Shame beacuse unless you actually knew all the info below: XBOX™ Serial Number XBOX™ MAC-Address The On-line Key The Unique HDD-Key (16-bit) ~do not confuse with the 20-bit Unlock Key!) The Serial number of the HDD in question. Are all needed in the algarythem that will eventually spit out a 20-bit Unlock Key that you can set with a a DOS Program like ATAPWD.exe or something. If the Drive had been moded. And perhaps just perhaps mind you! had a breif encounter with a Program called 'ConfigMagic'. You might be able to use the Master Pasword 'TEAMASSEMBLY' to get the Drive unlocked. Allas this sadly does not appear to be the case though. =( The Drive itself could be in a fine enough state. But, untill you can unlock it. it may as well be counted as dead. Beacuse as you noticed I'm sure it's of no further use to anyone...
