    I don't know if that has been posted or answered before but after looking through quite a few threads I couldn't find the info I was looking for.

    What is the difference between version 1.5, 2.0, etc..?

    Are any of the versions better/worse for playing converted DVD's? (This is my main goal other than gaming with my PSP.

    Thanks for the help.

    1.5-
    pro-Play isos and you can download music and such.

    con-dosn't have all the options of that of 2.0 or higher.

    2.0-
    pro-you get an option of getting to the net unlike 1.5.
    plus you get a few more options with your pictures.

    con-you can not download iso's, and you have to have a wireless router.

    2.0+
    Pro-You can get an rss channel(whatever that is), it has to do with music on the net. and you get a location free player option as well.

    con- you can not downgrade past this, you can at 2.0 nothing else.

    [bold] but it is up to you at want you want[/bold]

    ISOs are copies of games that can be downloaded to your memory stick and played directly off the memory stick.

    on 1.5 he means u can download music from the computer to ur psp through the usb cable

    Yes you can put DVD files on your psp go to my stickied thread. its very simple if you try to understand it.

    Most games are coming to where you have to upgrade your psp. plus 1.5 psp's are very rare now but i understand. asking questions to upgrade or downgrade.

    Well in my own opinion i think you should stay at a 2.0 it gives you a few optinons that are not on the lower versions. Like puting a wallpaper on your psp, with your own pictures. If you ever get a game that is over a 2.0 then you should ask us about tricking your psp into thinking that it is at a different version.

    Now as for music, i think i might have confused you. i meant from you computer to your psp. but that is if you even want to put music on you psp. and that is a whole different story. but thats also in my stickied thread.

    See ya later-->Codeman74<--

    incorrect no name, you can definitly play music on a 2.0 +. As far as I kno every version firmware of the psp can play music.. so you dont have to worry about not having tunes..

    yoooooo codeman i got a question for you....

    wait wait wait... do you mean that i could possibly play street fighter alpha 3 max?
    i thought that playing games that required 2.01 fw or higher was not feaseable with a 1.5 fw psp

    @Joeva --

    As you know, some games require you to upgrade the FW before you play them. SOME of these games, the newer ones, actually really need some of the codecs that are in the 2.0+ FW versions in order to run the game. However, a lot of those games don't use newer codecs, are technically playable on a 1.5 FW, except that they are programmed to upgrade you if you are below a 2.0 before it will let you play.

    Codeman was referring to a type of program, probably the SXT Version Changer, which can take a 1.5 FW PSP and fool it into thinking that it has upgraded to a FW version higher than it really is. It can even make your PSP think that it has FW version 7.5 installed on it, which as you know doesn't even exist. This way, when you pop in those games, they don't try to upgrade your FW before letting you play, because the PSP assumes it has already upgraded beyond 2.0+

    This will make the second category of games work without forcing you to upgrade. However, for the games that actually need the additional codecs in the newer FW versions, you will probably get some error if you try to play them without having upgraded.
