1.5gb in dual channel?

i still havent bought the other stick of 512 so i was overclocking it from 533mhz to 675 and i found that my rams were on dual channel is this possible? isnt dual channel suposed to be 4 of the same or 2 of the same ?

Thats true for DDR.Not sure about DDR2 though.

 

You can set it to work dual channel, but it can only do it if the memory is the same.
So unfortunately it is trying but failing.

According to my mb manual 3 sticks will work in dual mode. Not sure how or why but that is what it says. Does'nt work with 1 stick only. Quote (Supports 3 modules inserted in both the blue and black slots as 2 pairs of dual memory configuration) Unquote

 

I misread the original post and thought you had different size modules.
My mistake.
As for the 3 stick scenario, then read this, it shows how 3 sticks work.
Basically the 2 sticks combined size in channel a must equal the size of the single stick in channel b.

@BigDk It appears tha you are correct like having two sticks of 512 then adding a 1 gig in next.
