    I was able to softmod my 1.6 Xbox K:5838 D:5960 using SID 5.01/SC exploit. However it would hang at the big X logo unless I remove the network cable (while connected to an active LAN or another PC via crossover) prior to booting up and plug it back as soon as the X logo /MS banner passes. Anyone aware of this issue or can suggest a fix? Please help

    Yup.. check your network settings. It's hanging on the network setup probably because the timeout is too long.

    Thanks for the tip. Now that my main dash is just XBMC, would I check the timeout settings there or do I have to adjust it in MS Dash (still exist but hidden somewhere?)

    Ok so I checked both in XBMC as well as MS Dash and nowhere does it have a "timeout" setting. Must I edit some configuration file? Please advise

    I don't use xbmc as a main dash. IMHO it's too unstable.

    Check the evox.ini file for network settings. In mine there is a section like this..

    Code:
    [Network]

    SetupNetwork	= Yes

    StaticIP	= No

    Ip		= 192.168.0.200

    Subnetmask	= 255.255.255.0

    Defaultgateway	= 192.168.0.1

    DNS1		= 0.0.0.0

    DNS2		= 0.0.0.0

    SkipIfNoLink	= No

    SetupDelay	= 0

    Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a sucker for XBMC's refined appearance. I did not find any evox.ini in both C: and E: I recall only installing UnleashX during the early stage of the softmod using SID 5/SC

    I think you are probably right in regard to the timing issue. I tried booting up with a game DVD in the drive while still attached to the network and it booted up just fine. Afterward I executed the IGR to exit game/rebooted XBMC, sort of like a soft reset and it went pass the X logo without the annoying hang up. Interestingly enough this symtom never happened with older 1.1 Xboxes. I'm starting to think it is a 5838 kernel + type of softmod (SID 5/SC) compatibility issue.

    You may be right. What you need to look for is probably called xbmc.ini (or dashboard.ini.. something like that in the root of your softmod drive.. probably E:\dash). I checked and on different softmods it can have different names. It will be in there somewhere. Keep looking for it and when you find it back it up and maybe post it so we can have a look at what is going on.

    I could not for the life of me find any file with the *.ini extension. Most are *.xbe or *.xml. I'm looking into upgrading it to another softmod (via Cash 1.1) as a last resort.

    Have a look at a couple of the xml files. xbmc is very complicated.
