I've noticed a lot of people having problems putting chips in 1.6b systems. I sold my modded 1.0, and purchased a new one, and ended up with the 1.6. Anyway, I used my old xbox to put the "X3_3294 v1.6plus" bios on the chip, and it starts to boot up into the config screen and everything, however after a couple of minutes, my xbox will lock up, go to a flashing amber light, and starts quickly rebooting. Does anyone have any advice to offer? I appreciate the help.
Wait, let I clear my head first. YOu used old xbox to flash X3_3294 v1.6plus bios on the X3 modchip. Then you install the X3 on new xbox version 1.6b. Your xbox ran for couple of mins then it locked up. Is that correct? Can you load the backup bios on X3?
Yes, that is correct. Put the chip in a v1.1 & put the 1.6b bios on it, then stuck it in the 1.6. Sorry I didn't update the post earlier, but I desoldered my chip and resoldered it and it appears to be working properly. I read the Xecuter 3 troubleshooting guide, and it says that amber flashing lights mean overheating, and possibly a overlapping solder point. So I redid the solder points and that corrected the problem.
Follow the link in my sig. Then look for #xbins in my page. Just read and do it as it said. Then download it from xbins.
