    Yea, I had the same problem in Miami florida, I went through every best buy store and only found made in taiwans, although Ive used prodisc (smart buy) and indeed they are not as bad as the seem to be.

    @Kivory: Ive only seen Taiyo Yudens with printable and silver surface is there a taiyo yuden that has surface like the Fujis or verbs (I mean it has the name, etc ,etc)??

    @paz

    well, i have not used any TYs w/ the matte finish, other than the Branded (Fuji or Sony) that i purchased locally~ :)

    you might be able to find some, there is always a possibility, but i am not familiar with any TYs straight from the manufacturer that actually SAYS "TY" or "Taiyo Yuden" on the top surface~ :) if you do come across some, let me know, as that would be very interesting.

    i prefer the shiny tops actually, as my Sharpie writes to them much better than the branded TYs with the matte finish on top (fuji/sony MIJs) :)

    hi benyao~ good to see you are still kickin' and screaming trying to get your website out there for people to know about~ :p sorry i totally turned your other thread into a complete joke, but, hey, neph warned you already about touting around your website, i was mearly adding injury on top of insult~ :) your website DOES have decent prices, but, the last time you were trying to unload the HQ media on everyone, i felt inclined to shoot it down immediately before people waste their money on it~

    yeah, that is it right there...those are CRAP discs, im curious as to how well they did for you..have you even tried them yourself?

    i got nothing personal against you benyao, just feel you should try to calm down a bit w/ your advertising as nephilim (moderator) has already warned you in the past~

    Im only burning video dvd, just curious to know if it is 'SAFE' nowdays to burn @ 8x with genuine TYG02 media?

    I have always used TYG01 burning video at 4x no problems thus far. Iam however very concerned about playback issues that may arise (if they arise) at higher speeds like 8x on TY 8x Media.

     ... Perspnally, I don't burn any faster than 4X ... it just isn't worth the risk ... plus I get more consistant scans ...

    @drayon

    i PERSONALLY have not found ANY problems at all burning 8x on GENUINE TY TYG02s~ when you deal with high quality media, my 8x scans are no worse than my 4x scans on the 8x TYG02s.

    others may recommend 4x, and i wouldn't disagree for the sake of less errors and steady burns, but, i have MANY MANY backups burned @8x that are flawless on TY media~

    I always prefer burning at 4x, dont take risk burning at 8x, while write errors may appear there is always the possibility that older players are unable to read these 8x burned disc...so be safe stay at 4x, (although Ive once burned some video at 8x, my player recognized it but my friends didint so I just decided to stay safe at 4x) I dont understand why people just wanna go faster and faster...just wait 15 minutes and be safe ;)...I wonder those peers burning there movies at 16x lol...

    me too with the 4x, it just isn't worth the grief to save a few mins. I tried 8x for a few discs but a couple moaned on the burn so i went back to trusty 4x

    Have you tried burning a movie at 16x to see how it does in an standalone??? ;) I actually burned a movie at 8x it didint work in my friends DVD (it was TY!!) But it played in the other one, I burned another one at 8x and it didint work in a single standalone (.....guess why???? CMC MAG media ;) so thats another case, but if you like living in the edge go ahead and enjoy 8x :'( :'( I burn at least 10 DVD's per day and i have to wait 15 minutes per disc its not fair.....:'( some day my friend will stop briging me fake TY that burn at 4x, to bring me real TY that burn at 8x, but by now I have 15 min per disc even when Im burning to someone else :'(.

    @paz

    yah, i HAVE burned my TYs @16x before, and as expected, it DID have some skipping problems and other picture related issues, but, it DOES in fact play~ not very well, but it DOES play~ :)

    i am in no way suggesting to people to burn faster than my own 8x, and 4x is probably a VERY GOOD IDEA, i just see NO difference between my 4x and 8x burns on TY, so, i choose to go faster~ :p

    i never burn @16x even if it's rated 16x media TY, it's just not worth the errors~ 8x is fine for me~ :p

    yup should work fine BUT i burn most the time at 4X max.
    as far as the fuji flim DVD dash R there def. prodisc. which i havent had good luck with at all. just buy the TY online like kivory666 said and you will be very happy with them long term.
    and kivory666 thats the same TY disc i use too the shiny top with a sharpie to write on ,can usally find them for about 32 or 33 bucks a 100 at supermedia store or meritline.com,but as of late meritline been a little less expenisve (dont like to use the word cheaper when refering to TY media lol) let me know if you find any good deals on them if you would kivory666. thanks
