    Yeah, I agree with kivory666. You can't go wrong with TY media. They're definately the best! I've ordered from Supermediastore before and the TY media they sell is definately genuine.

    I've burned several hundred times with TDK media, and have yet to make a coaster.

    Supermediastore is pretty reputable - they carried genuine Taiyo Yuden (manufactured by Yuden Co. Ltd.), so you (newbies) don't have to worry about it.

    @mocheeks

    what is the media ID coding on the ones you have burned already...? reason i ask, IS, that there are a FEW GOOD coding out of TDK media, in the 8x dvd-r format, which happens to be the following:

    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB RITEKG05.... 8x (made in taiwan, good media by Ritek)

    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB TYG02....... 8x (made in japan, authentic Taiyo Yuden manufactured)

    the reason i hate TDK media is that their OWN coded media, at least for ME personally, are worse than the CMC MAG crap that everyone complains about...the ones that come to mind are THIS CRAP :

    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB TTG01....... 4x
    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB TTG02....... 8x
    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB TTH01....... 8x
    TDK DVD-R 4.7GB TTH02....... 16x

    yes, i know i am very biased here, but, this is the BOTTOM of the rung media IN MY EYES~ whether you agree or disagree, we are ALL entitled to our opinions; but, i have 6 different burners (including my laptop burners) that won't burn to this crappy TDK's own manufactured stuff if their lives depended on it, and when one DOES burn "successfully" (meaning to completion), during playback it skips/freezes/pixellates/stops on ALL my standalone players...i've had more success with CMC MAG manufactured discs than this TDK's poor excuse for their OWN manufactured media~ naturally, this is only MY opinion on MY own setup in MY eyes~ :)

    i know a lot of people have had success w/ TDK, but, i will NEVER endorse or recommend TDK to ANYONE that asks, not because some of their media is manufactured by CMC MAG, but because they, TO ME, REALLY do SUCK~!

    TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x
    TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.F01 4x
    TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.M01 16x

    good lord that is a bunch of CRAP in the dvd+r format~ :)

    docTY~

    for everyone reading this thread...do yourself a favor, get the Taiyo Yudens, don't waste your money on TDK crappy media~ the TYs 8x dvd-r (genuine TYG02 coded) @$30 is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better deal than the crappy a$$ TDK 16x dvd-r (TTH02 crap coded) which is slightly higher in price~ it's common sense, u pay LESS for the good quality stuff, why bother with crap that's MORE EXPENSIVE? very simple~

    @kivory666:
    I have had very good performance with the TDK DVD-R both at the 4X and 8X speed. Manufacturers Code TTG01 and TTG02 respectively. Have only gotten these at Costco when they are on sale for "buy one spindle get one free", but I understand they have been promoted by Circuit City as well. Burned over #200 without a coaster on Pioneer or NEC burners. Results and reliability much better than Ritek. I can't believe you are so down on them. I too prefer the TY disks (Fuji MIJ), and Verbatim (if they code as MCC), but would gladly accept the TDKs as a third choice

    @stan

    well, as i mentioned earlier, my bias is based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, and i ALSO did mention that everyone will have varying results, some people will have great success, much like yourself, i just added MY PERSONAL opinion of the TDK's own manufactured stuff~ :)

    i won't ever use them, ever again, but that's ONLY ME~ :)
    that's one of the reasons i DON'T list my "dislikes" in media preference in my sig, i ONLY list the ones i have burned hundreds if not THOUSANDS of already w/ flawless results~ :)

    everyone has their own "cup of tea", one user based on THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL setup could have NOTHING but 100% success w/ CMC MAG or other media HIGHLY regarded as "low quality/poor rubbish" by MANY MANY others; it ALL depends on one's OWN preferences, i was simply stating MINE~ :)

    good day to you bro, good luck on CONTINUED success w/ your TDKs~ happy burning~ :p

    docTY~

    Must be a Pioneer thing because I too have had great luck with over 400 of the TDK (TTG02). Same price and same shelf I would definately go with the Ty's. But the TTG02 look every bit as good as the Yuden000T02 on a DVDInfoPro scan on my setup. To each his own. Proof will be 20+ years from now when you probably could not care less about a movie you burnt in 2005.

     The reason that NewEgg doesn't have them this cheap is that they don't sell Taiyo Yuden.

     SuperMediaStore is the BEST on-line source for Taiyo Yuden media ... period

    that's rated #1 NOT voted #1

    this list is DigitalFAQ's opinion .. if votes were counted, NewEgg would be a preferred site also

    quite possible that this list is influenced by the amount of advertising money spent at DigitalFAQ

    so how about let's vote for your preferred online store? Neweeg is good but not for media. They have less selection than supermedia, and higher prices and from what other mentioned above, they are selling fake Taiyo Yuden (Legacy). The Legacy 8X DVD-R is absolutely fake Taiyo Yuden since they are made in TW by Optodisc.
