1080i 1080p

    hi guys, im currently playing my ps3 in 1080i..and 720p because my hdtv hasnt got 1080p....i am going to buy another tv to get 1080p, is it worth it? picture wise and that..sony bravia i am going to get, 40 inch.

    As a benchmark, I use the following:

    20-30 inches - 720p is okay
    30-35~40 inches - 1080i is okay
    35+ inches - 1080p is the best

    To be honest, I can't really tell the difference between 720p and 1080i even on my 32" TV. I tried out my TV on a 40-45" 1080p TV, and you can really tell the difference between the i and p at that level. But besides that, there's not too much difference. To me, that is.

    In your case, I'd say that a 40" 1080p TV would be pretty good. It's just a matter of whether you're willing to spend the dough or not.

    Thats the same tv I'm going to get in a week or 2, great deals on them right now. Under a grand for 40", 1080p, and sony.

    I just bought a new 42" LG 42LG50 from Best Buy the day before Christmas. It's a 1080p and looks very good with my PS3 attached via HDMI.
