Hello everyone! I know all of the new sony blu-ray players where designed to output 1080P over component, but it was disabled. Does anyone out there know how i can get the sony blu-ray players to output what i want over component? Thank you!
It will depend on the model of your tv set. I think the Sony KDL52xbr2/3 does that and some other newer brands. cheezz
its actually feeding a 1080P projector, im not really worried about that, im trying to tweak my sony blu-ray player to output 1080P using the component. I know sony's players are capable of outputing 1080p over component, but sony disabled it, im trying to figure out how to "re-enable" it
Where did you hear that? I've never heard it, myself. I just went to Sony's site and looked at every Blu ray player's features and specs. Everyone of them, from the most expensive to the cheapest, says HDMI is required for 1080p output. This is the quote from their site: I couldn't find anywhere that said they were designed to do 1080p over component. If you could give a link to that info, I'd like to read about it. There is a feature on a couple of them, that is: Full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema Video Output The quote for those requirements is: You can see for yourself here: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...0551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=27898 The only player I know of, that will even upconvert to 1080p over component, is one of the Oppo players. Even that one only does it with non-copy protected dvds. So it would work with backups (on DL discs), but not store bought dvds. I don't know that you'll ever see a HD DVD or Blu ray player, output a 1080p picture, over component cables, with all the talk about HDMI v.1.3 being needed for the HD audio formats, to output via HDMI. Good luck!
