    Hi I am newbie here.

    Current status:
    Pentium 3 733Mhz
    512 RAM

I have try encode .avi .mpeg files to dvd files using nero vision express2(it took about 15-20 hours for 4.7GB) and then burn it to dvd using nero express. But the video quality is not good enough for DVD standard, it is because the source is not at a good quality? Does it mean we can't do anything about DVD R quality? If so, what is the differences between VCD writer and DVD writer? I encode the same file, same size and same way, 1 to DVD, 1 to VCD but the quality not far enough! What can we do to get DVD quality?!!

    Thanks

15 hours is a tad long.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE PC WHEN YOU ARE ENCODING?
I dont get what you mean that the quality isnt good enough for dvd quality.Once you convert the file to an mpeg2 format then you can burn it to a dvd and watch it in a standalone dvd player.

These files are they downloaded or are they ones that you have created yourself?

The difference between the 2 burners is a cd burner will only burn to cd and can create vcd and svcd discs on a 700meg cdr while a dvd burner can burn onto both cdr and dvd discs .(You can create both vcd/svcd and dvd type files)
