What is better to burn with? I use 8X right now and was wondering if there will be a decrease in quality if I use 16X dvd-r's?
I dont think that wiuld b the problem, a issue would only arise if u burn more than 4x to do ur movies also remember to make sure it is quality media u are using...
depends on WHAT media you are using to be more specific... if you are using good/high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (MCC manufactured) then, the quality will REMAIN the same for the 8x or 16x rated discs... however, borhan9 made a very valid point in that IF you increase your burning speed and burn everything @16x, you might/probably WILL experience some quality/playback issues... while burning @4x is the "general rule of thumb", i PERSONALLY burn all my movies @8x on QUALITY MEDIA...the quality scans are significantly HIGHER burned @8x than @4x for me...this holds true on all 6 burners that i use (most my burners are 16x capable, but my laptop burner is only 4x max on dvd+r only~ ) it really depends on what burner you are using too...i know on the newer benq's...namely the 1640, i get my best quality burns at faster speeds...saugmon reports that his BEST scans on MCC004 Verbatim 16x dvd+r rated discs are burned @8x or @12x...burning @4x onto [bold] good quality media[/bold]using a benq drive WILL NOT give you better quality, i can personally attest to this statement as well~ docTy~
Here is my system: AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.25GB Ram LG GSA-4167B 16X I usually burn encode and burn at the same time as browsing internet, printer, chatting, etc. movies come out great for me, little to no probs, but just wanted to do it faster, like at 16X
Was also wondering if anyone knows of a Firmware updgrade for this burner: LG GSA-4167B or where I can find information on it?
