Hey there gang. I am looking for some advice.

I purchased 1clickDVD some time ago and have been relatively pleased with its performance. Recently, I've had a run of bad luck with some burning and have created more coasters than playable backups. I recently tried backing-up to dual-layer media with mixed results as well with similar results. Due to these problems, I switched from DVD43 to AnyDVD in hopes there be an answer in there. My current setup is 1clickDVD (V 4.2.9.2) + AnyDVD. I have an LG GSA-4167B burner. I am running Win2000 O/S w/ Athlon 1800 1.2 ghz chip.

The results of my recent burns are that the disks will play a certain amount but about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way through, I start getting pixelation on screen. They usually degenerate to the point of not being playable. Of some of the coasters I've produced, I've had some burn error messages that usually state, in part, "...Device Reset..." (I don't have that exact text on hand but will post again once I get that message) as if some other device is communicating with and/or resetting my DVD burner.

I turn off my Norton Antivirus Autoprotection during my burns.

Anyone notice any familiarities with their own experiences? I was going to re-flash the unit with latest firmware but am having difficulties locating that as well.

    Thanks

It could the speed that you are burning at and the type of dvd media that you are using.
Switch to better media like verbratim, taiyo yuden or maxell that are made in japan and always burn at x4 speed on the safe side.

    heres a firmware link

and yes use better blank media (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) and burn at 4x

    this will work!!!

Guys-I am also having issues with 1Click. Some DVDs including Legend of Zorro trying to back up with 1Click the program only backs up small part of DVD even though 1Click thinks it is backing up whole DVD. I downloaded AnyDVD recommended by ScubaPete and was successful with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. I am trying to get refund from LG Software since I have had 1Click for less than 90 days. They state 90 day money back if unhappy.

1Click never thrilled me - used some then uninstalled it. Get your movie back. Then get clonedvd to go along with anydvd. That combo is pretty unstoppable!

Oh yes I say it's a must:) Plus they finally updated CloneDVD!
No more problems or multiple steps with new dvd's!
Actually I mainly use anydvd and clonedvd - but I do play with all the others too - fab decryper, vobblanker, dvd decrypter, shrink etc.

DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD Shrink & Clone DVD are a solid combination for me right now. I like the way DVD Fab Decrypter will process the files into a folder. Then I like to use Shrink to re-author the folder into another folder with only the movie, sans all the header & credits so that I just have the movie. DVD clone because you just have to add the folder to start the burn.

Mind you, this is not my "main use" machine. No multi-tasking on it while any process takes place. Using the above also results in a smaller folder on your HD that takes less time to process. A smaller folder also can mean you are not burning as close to the edge of the target disc, another plus.

And all the other things that have been mentioned. Good media, up-todate firmware & so on. Once you have it working, don't tweak things until you have to.

Also, regular maintenance of the box is a must. Especially if it is used on the internet. There are a lot of good & free utilities out there that can help you keep your computer running smooth.

I am starting to have questions about "Google" these days, but Google anything from your serial number to what ever & you can usually find what you want.

I tried the Taiyo Yuden media and my burning problems went away. I still prefer 1Click over CloneDVD as I've tried them both. I was hesitant to believe it could have been the media but here I am, admitting i was wrong! Yikes!

At any rate, I have not had any issues with burning since switching media (well over 20 backups now).

No more "saving" on media for this camper (although I was using Ridata media and that was supposed to be pretty good).

    @stelorone
Glad to hear a TY success story and convert :)
RiData's okay - used them - had some bad ones.
Yep saving the few extra cents isn't worth it for 'cheaper' media.
Many happy burns ahead for you!

I noticed that some of the newer DVD movies are being produced in High Def, could this be why some as well as myself are having trouble with 1ClickDVD or even DVD X Copy Platinum?

Well it's probably more than likely your drive doesn't like those imation's. Not known as quality stuff - more like crappy. Switch to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and your problems will disappear w/ any copy s/w.

Zorro has been kicking my ass! Using one click, I've produced two coasters. I've tried to use DVD decryptor and have received error messages. I've also attempted DVD Fab Decryptor and also got error messages. It's the only DVD I've not been able to back up. Any additional help would be great.
With one click, I only get a portion of the DVD backed up.
