Hi, i have Pentium 4 3.00Ghz with 2 mb L2 cache ram 1 GB with 333Mhz freq. vga 128 upto 512 (7200 GS nvidiea) with turbo cache NOWW i want to buy another ram to speed up my pc and to deal with the turbo cache in the vga so which is better: 1GB ram 333Mhz -OR- 512 ram 800Mhz ????
512 ram 800Mhz is better but it dont work the way you might think 333mhz is ddr with 184 connections 800mhz is ddr2 with 240 connections (pins) You should seek out what your motherboard runs and stick with that. Some MBs have 4 slots --> 2 ddr and 2 ddr2 If you only have 2 DDR slots and your main board will only do 333mhz RAM, at the most, then you can put in any 184 pin RAM (ie: 400MHZ tops). All the better 184 pin will clock itself down to what your MB is rated for. After 400Mhz the RAM manufacturers changed RAM to DDR2 personally is my mainboard took 333 and i found 400 on sale i'd slap the 400 in good luck
my ram is DDR2 not one kingston written on it >>> (1GB PC2-5300 CL5 240 - Pin DIMM) in the other hand i opened 2day my MB manual i found that it can support memories with 400/533/667 and it only supports 667 with a a 800/1066 FSB CPU and oh thank god i found that my cpu fsb is 800 so i want to know what i suppose 2 buy
your board has both ddr & ddr2 slots in it, most likely 2 each. can only use either ddr or ddr2 at a time but not both types at once. being you have a 1 gig ddr2 then get another 1gig ddr2. get a seperate videocard so it doesn't use the main ram at all. also edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP. yours is 8 lines of text. 1.
