I would go for either the DFI lanparty ut nf4 ultra d or the Asrock 939 dual over the Abit fatal1ty board, the Asrock has both AGP & PCI-e slots so you could still use your 6800GT (still a good card)& save a few $$ . the rest looks ok, but why 2 dvd burners ? . you might want to go for a new monitor as the 7800 & 6800 can do a much higher rez & games look better @ higher rez .....just use normal XP pro as the x64 version has a few driver compatability issues. Heres a link for a mobo review http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2524 ... have fun
thanks but what is the different between pci-e 1 and pci-e 16.dont i want two 16 slots for best proformance or it really dosent matter
If you want to use xp pro x64 edition i would suggest going nforce chipset as nvidia seem upto date with drivers.... Also ive just built a system with x64 edition and nvidia chipset and all is good.... As for graphics cards the 7800GTX has 2 DVi ports so i would recomend a DVi Monitor, but the card should come with adaptors so you can use your existing anolog monitor (saves you some money).... But that system would be great for gameing and certainly wouldnt suck : ) EDIT: Sorry you just posted while i was typeing.... The PCIx (small) is a 1x slot for use with the likes of add-on cards like modems, network cards etc... The PCIx 16x is for graphics only! Now if you want to go SLI then get a board with SLI support, these boards will have 2 PCIx 16x slots for 2 graphics cards that will run in SLI mode... I would suggest getting one with SLI support and just use 1 card then for the future if you want you can get another and run them together
Your only going to need 2 PCI-E 16x slots if your gonna go the SLi route , otherwise you will have a slot doing nothing..... from what i've read the Abit board isn't as stable for overclocking as other 939 mobo's
i heard that games r going to be utilizing all sli modes and duel core in the near furture.if they do, and its not a fad ,the games will be so real and look amazing.what about that fata1ty sli card, heard good things, good overclocking with guru and a push button reset for the bios on the 5.25 bay drive[how cool is that?],but how good does it perform in sli with x64?anybody know?should i start a new thread about it?
The DFI mobo is better than the Abit , in terms of stability, design & price .... or even the Asus A8N- SLi deluxe. So you know that Sli means running 2 cards at the same time and you can only use a matching 7800gtx to accomplish that, which means another $529 on your budget. Gaming will go that way in the end, but not for a while yet... theres not that many games that use 64 bit yet let alone dual core & SLi & crossfire are starting to look preety good
