Hello, I have a pioneer DVD burner that will burn and erase DVD-RW disc's. And i also have a HP Lightscribe that will do the same. I used to do it all the time. Erase and burn. Or just burn. Either way they both used to work, and now it seems that something is not recognizing my drives as that kind, and all i can burn is regular DVD's and CD's. iv'e used -RW's and +RW's before and i have both kinds of disc's nether works. And what's weird to is when i put a RW in the drive the disc icon in My Computer folder changes it's name to from DVD-RW drive :E to CD Drive :E and when i put the disc in my HP drive, It changes from DVD-RAM drive f: to CD drive f: Ive tried useing nero, DVD decrypter, Ultra iso, and others to try to burn disc images. it just keeps saying the disc is not empty. So i tried erasing the disc's useing those prog's, and sometimes it erases them but when i go to burn it says that's not empy. even brand new ones. I don't get it. It all started after i reinstalled Windows xp pro on my P.C. but it's the same version as i had before. same disc and everything. But i wouldn't thing that windows would be doing it. And i havn't changed anything in my bios. and iv'e tried every setting under those drives to try and fix it. Did a scan from hardware changes and everything. If somone could please tell me how to get my drives going, i would be greatly apprishative. Thanx for any help.
They may need a firmware update. Post your model numbers and makes here and I can find them for you..
