I have 2 of the same Toshiba dvd players. Exact same models. I have been making backup copies of my kids movies to preserve the originals. In one of my players, the movies play fine. In the other, many of them incur problems about 2/3 ofthe way through the movie. First the movie will start breaking up digitally, and usually as this continues, it will freeze totally. Yet these movies play fine on the other dvd player, and on my son's playstation 2 unit. Any thoughts as to what could be wrong with my player? Thanks

I've seen a lot of complaints different places about Toshiba DVD players. There seem to be a ridiculously high number of them that die (or at least develop severe problems) long before they should be wearing out. I've also heard of a problem very similar to the one you describe (except it was older Sony players) and I believe it was caused by a resistor in the unit that was half the size it should have been. Not saying that's your problem, but it could be something similar.

Have you checked the database at Videohelp.com to see if anyone else has had similar problems?
