from what i can gather i can dump ps2 games not only through having a ethernet ps2 > comp but i can also have it where the ps2 is a lan port and my computer is in a lan port. using hdl_dumb i put the ip from the hd advance ip screen (192.168.1.110) and connecting.. buttt that didnt work for me uh an suggestions, am i doing something wrong?

also i thought winhiip could do this the newest one, but it never lets me enter the ip for the ps2 just keeps it grayed out

and does socom 3/star wars battlefield 2 require patches?

hi cannot answer your first question. i have no idea

as for the games needing patches - only if you play them online socom 3 (back up) will not play online though.

oh i didn't realize i crossover cable was just an ethernet cable.. yeah i tried putting that between my ps2 and computer. then i followed the instructions that game with hd advance 3.. i held a button while hd advance booted and that brought up the hd advance server screen. then i changed my ip to 192.168.1.xxx whatever it told me to. then i opened up hdl_dumb and tried to dump it but it wouldnt connect.

There are two kinds of ether net cable
crossover - this cable is used for adhoc connections eg, pc to another pc or pc to ps2.

Straight thru - this cable is used for infrastructure eg router to pc

Youll need the crossover ethernet cable

The difference is it wont work man,
for ps2 to pc you NEED crossover, anything i tell you wont help it work till you have the cable.
