Hi all, I have a mobo that has 4 slot. Slots 1 & 3, 2 & 4 are dual channel, now I have 2 512mb sticks in 1 & 3, my question is should I buy 4 1 gb or sticks 2 2gb sticks? I'm buying 240 pin 5300 (667) sticks, I can support a max of 4gb, now regardles of what I buy how should I put the sticks? Thanks for all the help

Why only PC5300? Surely your board supports higher? The price of PC5300 and PC6400 are practically identical and you'll see better performance with PC6400.

Sounds like your mainboard is rather old. I would recomend a pair of DDR2-800 or DDR2-1066 2GB sticks; you might be able to use them with your next board.

I'm not building anything new for a while but I'm pretty sure I can only have 4200 or 5300 my mobo is a: asus p5lp-le if anybody wants to check it out, I'm using it from an older media center pc I bought in 06. My pc is a m7250n from hp. I want no issues with this, simply because it's older. Thanks again
