3 flashing red lights, top right hand corner normal... how do i fix this problem ?

Ok i no this is classed as a hardware failure
however this problem occured after i finished playing one of my games.
i turned it off by the plug then turned it back on again it then worked.
the next day i came to play it again ..it worked fine then a few hours later i went back on to find the the 3 flashin lights and the top right one was still normal and it wouldnt display the dashboard or let me do anythin infact
it might have something to do with the power supply ..the light on the little power box is orange but it has always been orange even when i first brought it.

i really need some advice on what i can do to actually fix the problem without having to ship my xbox off 4 several weeks to be repaired.

Remember if your security seal is still intact just send it into microsoft, dont' bother taking it apart if you don't know what you're doing.
