OK. roc1975, there is an updated 2.57 available for cloned boxes, go to the link at the end of my post to download it, along with the gtrom loader software to do firmware upgrade. I have this running on my own clone, and it is fine. This version will autoroll the keys. JT133. There is a version 4.00 firmware for genuine boxes. Also available at the link below. Please be 100% certain that your box is genuine, v4.00 kills clones. I know this from first hand experience.
eamo thanks ive never updated before though? wouldnt even know hot to begin to do it. how would i connect to pc or can you point me somewhere where i could learn how to do it thanks. all ive done in the past is put in the new codes and its worked fine for me.what does the update actually do....
To actually do the upgrade, you will need a null modem cable, which can be got from Maplins or other suitable place. When you get that, connect the pc to the starview, run the gtrom loader program, click on BIN file button, and select the firmware file, then click on download. You will see a progress bar on the pc, and also the percentage as numbers on the starview. Wait until it gives the Download Success message ( or words to that effect ), give it another 20-30secs just to be sure, and you should be good to go. To find out what firmware you have currently installed, press Menu, go to the bottom entry and press OK. There will be something along the lines of Ver API: 2.57, or whatever it shows on your box. The 2.57 is the firmware version. Hope that helps, and doesn't put you off. Anymore questions, ask away, there a plenty of good people here who will help.
