I happen to have a spare 50001 fan lying around which runs a lot quieter than the 30001 series fan. Anyone have any experience with swapping out the old 3000x series fan for the quieter 5000x fan?

it shouldn't but you need to figure out if the quite one push's as much air.

thats becuse its NEWER the older ones tend to run more hot,so you don't want a slower fan in there that is ot pushing the air, best I can say is try it compare how hot it gets with the old fan and with the new fan, altho as long as air is being pushed I think you would be ok ...

    DSM,
yeah but your saying u need to find out if the newer one pushes more air and surely it does because my new ps2 runs extremely cool.

P.S. DSMs are hella problemetic but they are beasts when they are tuned right.
